An official from the Saudi Health Ministry has announced the country's second case of swine flu.Khaled al-Merghalani told the Associated Press Sunday that a Saudi student studying in the U.S. tested positive for the disease after landing in the western seaport of Jiddah, on a flight from Washington.
He is the first Saudi national to contract the disease.
Saudi Arabia reported its first swine flu case on Wednesday in a Filipino nurse who had returned to the kingdom from vacation in her country. The nurse has been quarantined and is receiving medical attention.
Though rare in the Middle East, there are have been isolated cases of the flu in Kuwait, Egypt and the Emirates, generally from travelers.
